How to Use Security Window Stickers Effectively

Most of us are interested in keeping burglars from our homes. One good and cheap way to do this is to use security window stickers. Even if you have not bought a security system, just having these stickers in your windows can encourage the thief to go to another house.

If you are considering buying security stickers, you really should not hesitate. If there are two nice houses and one has the stickers and one does not, most thieves are going to go for the one that does not have them. Of course, a professional thief may not be deterred at all by such stickers. But, your typical amateur thief probably is not going to want to mess with a house with a security system.

Of course, if you put up a security sticker and you do not have an alarm system, the burglar may decide to call the bluff. If the burglar thinks that you do not have a system, he might think to just give it a try anyway. So, this is a good argument for actually paying for a good security system, AND using several window stickers to deter thieves. Why take a chance?

If you are just going to use window stickers and not buy an alarm system, a good thing to do is to make a real show of your bluff! You should use a lot of motion sensor lights outside, perhaps in your yard and on the house. This way, when the thief gets near your house, the lights will come on and it will look like you really do have an alarm system.

Some good tips to use your security window stickers include these:

• Do not just use a security yard sign. It is hard to see in the dark.
• Make sure you put your stickers in places where they can be easily seen. You should put the sticker at eye level, or, at the bottom of the window. The thief might look down as he is weighing whether or not to break in.
• Make sure you buy good quality security stickers that do not look phony.
• If you use a yard sign, you are probably going to need more than one. Most criminals do not walk up to the front door. Most are going to go in the back or the side of the house.
• However, it still is a good idea to have a large security sign in the front of your house so that the criminal can see it when he is casing the neighborhood. Most of the time, criminals are going to come by your house first during the day to check it out, before they actually try to rob it.
